But before you do you should carefully go over your design so you don't forget anything and that it complies with 48HourPrint print ready requirements. Check things like ..., color, size, crop marks, fonts, resolution, typos, borders, kind of document(s). Templates. Regarding the requirements a big help are the guideline templates from the printing company. They have templates of several sofware formats available for you to use, such as Illustrator (.eps), InDesign (.indd), Publisher (.pub), Photoshop (.psd), QuarkXpress (.qxd), Freehand (.fhd), CorelDraw (.cdr). You may also use other formats/file types such as PowerPoint (.ppt), Adobe Acrobat (.pdf), Tagged Image (.tif), Stuffit (.sit), Bitmap (.bmp), Joint Photographic Experts Group (.jpeg). Checklist: Color. As the printing company works with the CMYK format meaning full-color or 4-color printing. It is best to have your file in mentioned format. If not, then it will be converted by them to CMYK which means 4-color printing: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, blacK. This conversion may result in slight color differences, so it is best to submit your file in the required format. If you wonder why the CMYK format is required, well your order will be printed on presses that works under the CMYK protocol, while scanners, digital cameras etc compose the colors thru the RGB method. (RGB= Red, Green, Blue) Crop Marks. Check that you file doesn't have crop marks because the printing system sees them as a design component and will print it. Size of your graphic file(s). File size should be 0.25" or 0.375" larger than the real product size. The file containing the design of - for example - your business card should be 2.75 x 3.75 if the real product size is: 2.5 x 3.5. Fonts, text and resolution. Font size should be 7pt. or higher. Make the image flat if you use Photoshop. Using Freehand, InDesign, Illustrator or other vector-based tools then your text should be converted to outlines and then create the PDF file, in that order. Mind that images, graphs and fonts are embedded into the file when using MS Publisher. Images with a resolution lower than 300 dpi can result in a less clear print, so have it in 300 dpi or more. (dpi= dots per inch) Grammar and typos. Check your total design by proofreading. Here's more on the online printing company 48 Hour Print Price comparison. Estimated price.
